Prohibition Ended 80 Years Ago Today

Thursday, December 5, 2013
Eighty years ago today, the citizens of America were freed from the tyranny of Prohibition, that noble, if completely adulterated, experiment in legislated sobriety. It wasn't apartheid, but it is another good reason to raise a glass today in honor of those who champion freedom in every form.

"There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires."
-Nelson Mandela
