Craft labels continue to make a big impact at the Wizards of Whisky awards, with Corsair Artisan Distillery taking home "American Craft Distillery of the Year" and "American Whiskey of the Year" honors.
“We are a small distillery, but we have big dreams. Our goal from day one has been to distill the best whiskey in the world, and Wizards of Whisky has been a great competition to be part of," said co-owner and founder Darek Bell.
Wizards of Whisky is the brainchild of whisky author, judge, and expert Dominic Roskrow. Determined over the course of three separate tastings, the Wizards of Whisky awards are typically dominated by Scottish and Kentucky labels, however craft producers have made significant in-roads in the last couple years.
The year 2014 has started off well for Corsair. Their unique Quinoa whiskey won an "Innovator of the Year" award from Whisky Magazine, which is the second innovator award for the distillery, and their "American Craft Distillery of the Year" from the Wizards of Whisky follows on the heels of 2013's "Craft Distiller of the Year" honors, also from Whisky Magazine.
