Small batch, single barrel, and limited edition releases are certainly on the rise, with many micro-distillers building programs around them. Downslope Distilling is no stranger to the concept, having operated their Double Diamond Limited release program for several seasons now. Their latest release is a single malt in the Scotch style that was rested in the always elusive sherry cask. It's an extremely limited offering of only 200 bottles, so get in on it while you can.
Here is their press release:
Downslope Distilling of Centennial, Colorado has announced the release of a new whiskey in the Double Diamond Limited release program.
The new product is a single malt whiskey that was aged in a sherry cask that previously housed a highland malt whisky. The secondary barrel was an American white oak wine cask with a medium toast. The resulting product has a lot of honey notes, some fruitiness, and a slight peatiness.
The Limited Edition Series consists of specialty products in extremely limited releases that are exceptional in process and in flavor. This release consists of exactly 200 bottles that were distilled from Malt that is only grown in the north of England and south of Scotland. It was distilled in the manner of a Scotch and then aged in the rare Scotch/Sherry cask.
The Malt whiskey is only available at the Downslope Tasting room in Centennial, Colorado and very exclusive retailers.
Downslope Distilling is a craft distillery that was begun 5 years ago for the purpose of developing unique and complex spirits. The award winning portfolio of products includes three vodkas five rums, Double Diamond Whiskey and Ould Tom Gin.
