Sweetgrass Farm Distillery Hosts Open House

Sweetgrass Farm Distillery, along with other wineries and spirit makers throughout Maine, will be participating in Open Winery Day this Saturday, June 7th, from 11am to 4pm. Hosted by the Maine Winery Guild, participating Maine wineries will have special offers in their tasting rooms including complimentary tastings, tours and special events. Billed as a way of “kicking off” the winery season visitors from out of state will find a more quiet time of year for a more intimate experience.

“Maine has developed a strong reputation in the craft beer industry. It also has some excellent producers of wine, mead, cider and spirits.” says Ben Alexander, owner of Maine Mead Works in Portland and President of the Maine Winery Guild.

Founded in 2008, the Guild currently represents 24 wineries in Maine and sponsors the Maine Wine Trail which consists of 21 vineyards and wine makers producing a range of artisanal products including wine, mead, ciders and distilled spirits.
