Black Button Distilling, Rochester, NY’s first and finest grain to glass craft distillery, is proud to co-sponsor an exclusive lecture and book signing by Amy Stewart, award-winning author of The Drunken Botanist - The Plants That Create the World’s Great Drinks from noon to 2 p.m. on May 16th at the Broccolo Garden Center.
In The Drunken Botanist, Amy Stewart examines an array of herbs, flowers, trees, fruits, and fungi that humans have used to create alcohol. Winner of the International Association of Culinary Professionals 2014 Judges Choice Award, and the 2014 Northern California Book Award, The Drunken Botanist covers topics ranging from biology, chemistry, history, etymology, and mixology.
Prior to Stewart’s lecture, Black Button Distilling will hold a tasting at Broccolo Garden Center from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., featuring their award winning Citrus Forward Gin, a unique spirit that Food and Beverage Magazine recently named “the gin of the summer,” for it’s distinctly refreshing flavor and versatility.
“Botany is deeply rooted into the distillation of the spirits we create, whether it plays a role as an ingredient in the spirit or as an ingredient in a cocktail,” said Jason Barrett, Black Button Distilling owner/head distiller. “And it doesn’t end with the distilling process. We are always trying to incorporate the freshest plants and fruits into cocktails to present the most unique and refreshing cocktail,” he said.
The tasting, lecture and book signing will take place at Broccolo Garden Center, located at 2755 Penfield Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
