#DrinkingMusic: Jacob Robert Stephens

Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Jacob Robert Stephens is a songwriter and folk player from Troy, Montana. Currently based in Missoula, Jake is a veteran of the Alaska and NorCal backwoods, and the loneliness of such experience permeates his every chord. His style is moody and emotional, reminiscent of musical heroes the likes of Tom Waits or Townes Van Zantz, with a similar vocal expression that when not paid close attention to nearly borders on a mumble. He punctuates his deep lyrical content with simple, scathing solos on mandolin and guitar, with enough attention paid to the minor keys to satisfy the most melancholy yet still feeling inspired.

Jacob Robert Stephens' new album, "The Sun Beyond the Storm," is available Nov. 1st 2014
