Maine Distiller’s Guild Introduces Maine Distillery Trail

The Maine Distiller’s Guild has announced that their Maine Distillery Trail is up and running!

Consisting of a digital map and a punch card, the Trail encourages enthusiasts of craft spirits to visit the locations of all twelve Maine Distiller’s Guild members for tastings and educational tours.

Established at the end of 2015, the Maine Distiller’s Guild was created to help support and promote the growing craft distilling industry here in Maine. The first item of action for the MeDG was to create a distillery trail to help draw public attention to the large number of craft spirits made in our home state. Maine’s small distilleries combine to create over 50 different products, ranging from popular whiskies and vodka to more obscure herbal spirits such as absinthe and fernet. If there is a particular type of spirit that you prefer, chances are you can find a locally made version!

To participate in the Maine Distillery Trail, simply visit any participating Maine distillery and pick up a Trail card. As you visit each distillery, have your card marked. After visiting all twelve distilleries, return the completed card and receive a pair of Maine Distiller’s Guild rocks glasses. All completed Trail cards will also be entered into a Grand Prize drawing consisting of a box full of gift cards and merchandise from all of the MeDG members!

Collective Wisdom Takes Hold in Wisconsin

We here at MicroShiner talk a lot about a craft culture, so we were stoked to see this piece in the ADI newsletter about the recent launch of the Central Wisconsin Craft Collective.

To us, craft isn't about one particular segment or another, it's a way of life. Its about engaging with people and products, not as a consumer, but as a person. It doesn't matter if we're talking about beer, wine, or in the case of MicroShiner, micro-distilleries and craft spirits, what we're really talking about is the notion that these are unique people making unique things in unique places, things that are as different from one another as the people who made them or the places they're from. Products as distinct as you and I.

If America has a beer, it is probably Budweiser. And while Budweiser may serve well to exemplify America as a whole, it is rather difficult to know much about any one place in America from a can of Bud. With craft this is not case, which is why we dig the idea behind the Central Wisconsin Craft Collective so much.

The collective brings together several of central Wisconsin's finest craft breweries, distilleries and wineries in an organization that encourages visitors to experience the unique character of the Stevens Point area through their palette.

Included in the Central Wisconsin Craft Collective are the Central Waters Brewing Company in Amherst; Plover's newly opened Great Northern Distilling; Kozy Yak Brewery/Fresar Winery in Rosholt; O'so Brewing Company in Plover; and the historic Stevens Point Brewery.

To help spread the word, the group has launched the Craft Collective Sweepstakes, a promotion that will award one lucky winner with a trip for four to the Stevens Point area for tours and tastings at the Craft Collective locations, as well as other prizes.
