Here is their press release:
Dark Corner Distillery is at it again with their latest whiskey offering, Hogback, a corn whiskey aged in uncharred new American oak barrels that bridges the gap between the World's Best Moonshine and Lewis Redmond Carolina Bourbon.
This release is the first in a new series of experimental spirits referred to as the Journeyman Reserve. Each bottle is personally hand-written and signed by the head distiller, and extremely limited (only 150 bottles). The whiskey itself is named after a rugged landmark that lies at the epicenter of “Dark Corner”, known as Hogback Mountain. Upon settling this region of South Carolina in the mid-17th century, the Scots-Irish thought the mountain resembled a hog lying on its stomach with its back facing upward.
This avant-garde series of spirits will be unlike any other. “We intend to break from tradition, take risks, and explore new techniques, ingredients and styles. This project is partly focused on resurrecting old world spirits and re-imagining them as a contemporary expression,” said head distiller John Wilcox.
HOGBACK, AGED CORN WHISKEY debuts this Friday, October 4th, 2013 at the distillery’s downtown Greenville location.
