Wednesday, February 25, 2015
On Sunday night of the 2nd Annual ACSA Convention and Vendor Trade Show in Austin, Texas, after Tito Beveridge shared the story of his now famous vodka over a catered dinner, the American Craft Spirits Association awarded medals for this year's annual Craft Spirits Competition, then hosted an attendees-only tasting.

I only know this based on what I saw in pictures and some pretty rough faces the following morning, but it looked to me like one hell of a good time.

Corsair Artisan In Fast Company

Wednesday, February 11, 2015
We were thrilled to hear the recent announcement that Corsair Artisan Distillery had been recognized by Fast Company magazine as #4 in the 10 Most Innovative Companies in Food for 2015.
Always one of our personal favorites, Corsair has long been known as an innovative and cutting edge member of the micro-distilling community, having achieved notable success for its unique products and approach. Owner and distiller Darek Bell was only last year honored with ADI's Bubble Cap award, and continues to be a leader in the world of craft spirits.
Our sincerest congratulations to Darek and his team of artisan spirits!
Here is the press release in full:
The Corsair Distillery has received an incredible piece of global recognition today. Fast Company magazine announced its annual ranking of the world’s 10 Most Innovative Companies in Food for 2015, honoring leading enterprises and rising newcomers that exemplify the best in business and innovation. Corsair was included with companies such as Panera, Hampton Creek, Tastemade, and Munchery at #4. This is truly amazing for a small microdistillery like Corsair.
Most Innovative Companies is one of Fast Company’s most significant and highly anticipated editorial efforts of the year. The magazine’s editors spend months gathering and analyzing data on companies around the globe. The resulting package emphasizes the breadth of companies with progressive, nimble business models, an ethos of sustainability, and a culture of creativity. As part of the magazine’s 20th anniversary year coverage, the issue also features “20 Lessons of Innovation for 2015.”
“We are incredibly humbled by this recognition. One of our core values is innovate or die,” says owner/distiller Darek Bell. “Whiskey has been so traditional for so long that it’s really ripe for disruption. A new generation of whiskey drinkers has arrived that do not want to drink their parents' brands. They want something new.” Corsair’s nontraditional, innovative spirits have been a hit with critics, as well as consumers, winning them over 100 awards in global spirits competitions.
One of the most striking aspects of Corsair is their dedication to an Open Source philosophy that is more common to high tech companies than something as ancient as distilling. Most traditional distilleries are very secretive about their recipes and techniques, where Corsair is very open, making their recipes public through books, websites, and by teaching numerous classes. It’s no surprise that Bell wrote Alt Whiskeys, which thoroughly details alternative whiskey recipes and distilling techniques, and Fire Water, which focuses on experimental smoked malts and whiskeys.
Among the 2015 honorees are major, international brands such as Ikea, L’Oréal, and Toyota; rising newcomers like WeWork, American Giant, and Line; creative upstarts like Anki and ColorOfChange.org; data analyzers including Next Big Sound and Mark43; and world-changing biotechnology companies like Gilead Sciences and Omada Health. For the first time, six continents are represented on the list, including Australian startup Catapult; India’s Perfint Healthcare; Rwanda’s Made in Kigali; and Chile’s Algramo. Tech giants Amazon and Twitter failed to earn a spot on this year’s list.
“Our goal is to illuminate the state of innovation as it exists right now within the rapidly changing global landscape,” said Fast Company editor Robert Safian. “That’s why there are only five repeats on our Top 50 list from the list a year ago. In this economic environment, we all need to continually challenge our assumptions.” Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March 2015) is now available online athttp://www.fastcompany.com/section/most-innovative-companies-2015, as well as in app form via iTunes, and on newsstands beginning February 17.
The Corsair Distillery has received numerous alcohol industry specific accolades for innovation, including  two “Innovator of the Year” accolades for Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky awards as well as “Craft Distiller of the Year.” The American Distilling Institute gave Corsair the Bubble Cap Distiller of the Year award. The UK based Wizards of Whisky awards has awarded Corsair with “Craft Distiller of the Year.” Corsair Distillery Cofounder Darek Bell was recently lauded as one of Beverage Industry Magazine’s “Top 50 Disruptors.” The Spirits Business lauded him as one of the “top 10 most pioneering distillers.” The Fast Company recognition is significant because Corsair is competing in a much larger field with only 10 top spots awarded.

Wyoming Whiskey Captures Silver

Tuesday, October 14, 2014
The New York World Wine & Spirits Competition is one of the more prestigious spirits events in the country, so it is with understandable pride that Wyoming Whiskey shared this recent press release:

In September we entered our soon-to-be-released Single Barrel Bourbon into the 2014 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. This is a product we are extremely proud of, and it turns out we aren’t the only ones who think it is pretty incredible. This last week, it was announced that our Single Barrel Bourbon was awarded a Silver medal. We are humbled to win this award in the popular bourbon category and will make it available to the State of Wyoming, in limited quantities, beginning November 3.

And remember, every drop of bourbon in these award-winning bottles is made from Wyoming ingredients. Every drop.

Corsair Named Distillery of the Year

Friday, April 4, 2014
We were thrilled to be a present at the ADI awards gala in Seattle to see Corsair and many other micro-distillers and craft spirit makers honored for their hard work and committed effort. Corsair is certainly an innovator and leader in the craft movement, and we are quite pleased to see them named Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute.

CORSAIR WINS CRAFT DISTILLING'S HIGHEST HONOR, THE BUBBLE CAP AWARD, "DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR," AT THE AMERICAN DISTILLING INSTITUTE AWARDS.

Seattle, WA, April 2, 2014

Corsair Distillery has won the highest honor in the world of craft distilling: the "Bubble Cap" award from ADI, the American Distilling Institute. ADI President Bill Owens said, “No one has given more back to the distilling community than Corsair. No one has been more innovative, yet open. They are the future of craft distilling.”

The Bubble Cap award is given to the one distillery of the year that represents the very best in the world of artisan distilling: excellence in quality of spirits, innovation, transparency, authenticity of approach, sustained company growth, community involvement, and embodying the ethos of craft. With over 500 distilleries now open in this exploding category, this makes Corsair’s win even more impressive.

Drew Faulkner, Vice President of ADI, said "Corsair truly deserves this. They are someone the whole industry can look up to and admire." The bubble cap is a device used by distillers in the column of a still to increase the proof of the spirit. The award is made in Louisville, Kentucky at the Vendome Copper Company that also built Corsair’s stills.

By ADI's definition, a craft distillery must produce less than 100,000 proof gallons per year, be independently owned and operated, and must actually distill their own products.

This makes Nashville, TN based Corsair’s third “Craft Distillery of the Year” award, having won Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky award and the Wizard of Whiskey award. The distillery has won a number of other notable awards, including two “Innovator of the Year” awards from Whisky Magazine. The Bubble Cap award is particularly special in the craft distilling community because it is awarded by an organization made up of distilling industry peers.

Since its inception 6 years ago, Corsair has won 92 medals and awards at international spirits competitions. Publications and media outlets such as  The New York Times, CNN Money, Food and Wine, Fortune Magazine, The Atlantic, Saveur, Tastings Magazine, Chilled Magazine, Imbibe Magazine, Beverage Industry, Beverage World, In The Mix, Whisky Magazine, Time Out New York, Garden and Gun, Whisky Advocate, Southern Living, Details, Men’s Health, Men's Journal, Esquire, Wine Enthusiast, CBS News, Food Republic,  A rtisan Spirit, and Maxim have featured and praised Corsair’s unique artisan spirits.

Rogue - A Spirited Revolution

Wednesday, February 5, 2014
Rogue has long been known for their exceptional ales, stouts and lagers, products made using ingredients grown on their own farms in Independence and Tygh Valley, Oregon. Their commitment to quality and innovation is eclipsed only by their staunch refusal to compromise their integrity, and their entrance into the realm of craft spirits is founded in this same commitment . So it is of no great surprise to hear of their being named "Distillery of the Year" at the World Beverage Competition in Geneva, Switzerland.

Of nearly equal import is the fact that, win or no win, Rogue probably wouldn't change a thing. Rogue bills itself as a "revolution in fermentation", which beyond being a handy marketing tool, is quite likely the plain truth. In another spot on their website, they point out that "craft spirits is in the same place where craft brewing was 25 years ago", a time frame that just so happens to coincide with the number of years Rogue products have blessed the marketplace. And their "Declaration of Interdependence", an irreverent parody of America's founding document that forms the basis for the Rogue Nation, conveys the "full Power to levy War against the Status Quo". All signs of a company that knows where it stands in the world, and is pretty happy with the view.

Viva la revolucion!
